The Clifton Beach webcam is back! —–> click here for the digital window on Tasmanian coastal goodness.
The CoastView Partners have grins from ear to ear because after falling dark following 11 years of service the “Cliffy Cam” is online again. From the volume of email we’ve received from our coastal community expressing their despair at the loss of our digital window on Hobart’s iconic beach destination we’d imagine you might be smiling as well?
Thanks to the Clifton Beach Surf Lifesaving Club and Tasmanet, we are relaunching the Clifton Beach webcam for 12 months until March 2012, after which ongoing funding will be required to maintain the service.
It’s great to be back,
Rob, Justin, Thomas, Richard, and Paul

Yippee!
Thank you Dr. Tola. You had a significant personal role in having this service here for Tassie.
hey will there be a eagle hawk web cam like there used to be or not? cheers
Hi Elliot,
Thanks for your comment.
We know people miss the Eagle Hawk webcam. I miss the EH webcam.
Whether or not it returns depends on funding and resources.
See you in the surf,
Thomas
Well done guys, total credit to you all!!
Cheers Scott, thanks for the support.
awesome! now bring on the rest of coastview again!
Thanks for the support Dale.
We’d love to have the full CoastView back . . . but time will tell if we can get the sponsorship we need for that.
Well done Coastview team. Nice to have Coastview back again, even though it is rather limited at present. Hope you have done OK re sponsorship.
Ron, as someone I remember being a member of the CoastView audience for a long time now, thank you.
- think of the carbon we save by not diriving to the beach when its flat.
Carbon had crossed our mind, even when we started in 2000 – all that marine science and reaction to ‘El Nino’ media bubbling around in our heads back then.
Let’s also remember the price of petrol these days . . . last fill up of the surf bus cost me over $1.50 / litre!
Great news and many thanks for bringing this service back,
How can we all contribute to get the rest of the service in full
operation?
Hi George,
Cheers mate.
We will have the donate button working again soon. However if you would like to find out more about how you could help, or have a specific service in mind that you’d like to see back please email us on the “contact” page = http://www.coastview.com.au/?page_id=83
Hooray! welcome back Coastview! While this must have been a difficult time for you guys, there is a positive as it has really underscored just how valuable and needed your service is! Keep up the good work and all the best for a bright Coastview future.
To right Bish, Hoooray! And thanks.
This time has been and continues to be challenging for us. But we are looking to build up what we can sustain for the community. Time will tell.
Be sure to tell your friendly, forward-minded business associates, local government members, and State Pollies as well about how you value our services . . . . just saying. =0)
I dont think its working properly everytime ive check it its a previous day actually the same footage. So I dont think its even working.
Hey Mikey,
You are correct. Power to the tower was lost a few days ago and we are working with SLS on a fix.
We’ve putting out updates via our CoastView Twitter feed – which is published in the upper right hand column or you can follow us here – http://twitter.com/CoastView_TAS
We are also putting updates on our new Facebook page as well:

Hey guys . . . we’ve fixed up the power issues and the Cliffy Cam is back. Thanks for your patience.
Thomas
Wonderful news Thomas. On another note, do you plan on including the classifieds again?
That’s a really good question Ron. The classifieds were really popular.
We are considering many options and evaluating their financial sustainability. Stay tuned.
i’m sure that people using it would not object to paying for it.
great work loving the cam!!!!…although it’s a shame when the surf is shit.
LC, thanks mate. At least you burn less expensive petrol? Good on your wallet and carbon-footprint.
well done Thomas for your dedication & passion to Tassy surf. We were all ‘floundering’ without Coastview! Love the new look too
Thanks Janet . . . doing are best to put capacity into growing this. You are a coastal surf trooper yourself. Thanks for all you do.
Fantastic effort all involved in resurrecting the Cliffy Cam!
Thanks for the stoke, Dave.
Well done guys
awesome effort
cheers
Pete;-)
Your support is appreciated Peter . . . from all the Partners.
Im wrapped-thanks to all involved with Cliffy Cam.
We’re wrapped too Barry, thanks for your support.
Its good to see you surf folk getting your act together, I like the zoom and pan feature….NOW all we need is fishing fraternity to follow your lead and reinstall the Arthurs Lake web cam.
G’day Bryan, thanks for your comment. We are close to that fishing community and hope we can secure the support to bring back the Lake cam, and more. A good word and some discussions in your circles always helps. We are Tasmanian, have been around supporting the wider community for over a decade and hope we can grow that into the future. All the best.
Well done coastview team for setting up the site again (ive heard its been on for a little while now but i just found out).
I was just wondering wether the classifieds would come again. They were very popular and helped me a few times with buying and selling some boards.
Thanks, keep up the good work!
Any updates on the EagleHawk and Cremorne webcam?
Been getting a lot of use out of the web cam lately. Glad to see it back. Anyone noticed the words in the sand? Been there the last three days. Perfectly lined up with the web cam. Pretty large up close – about 2 meters tall. Would’ve taken some time. Any thoughts? Cheers dudes, keep up the good work Coastview team!
Hey guys, anyone else notice that the webcam has been looping the same footage since the 17th of december? check the time stamp on the webcam
Thanks James . . . we’ve had a few issues with some nasty hacker types and we are working on fixing up things in the back-end.
She’ll be back as soon as we can make it happen – thanks for the collective patience from the community.
Merry Everything this season
THanks for the Info Thomas, Look forward to it being back online
Hey Thomas!
Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for providing us with such a fantastic service!!! Your hard work does not go without great appreciation and you have saved many of us a bank load of bills in wasted trips. I hope you continue to provide us with your great services for many years to come!
Cheers again,
Randy B
Randy,
Thanks heaps for the thoughts mate.
We may save you guys petrol but it’s comments like yours that are the main fuel powering this 12 year community effort by the CoastView partners – Rob, Justin, Paul, Richard, and myself.
You might have also noticed we improved our Eaglehawk service recently – http://www.coastview.com.au/eaglehawk_neck_webcam/ – as well as relaunching the Bay of Fires webcam – http://www.coastview.com.au/bay_of_fires_webcam/ .
Thanks again . . . see you in the surf,
