NEW REAL-TIME WAVE AND WEATHER OBSERVATIONS FOR TASMANIA’S EAST COAST

Real-time wave and weather observations taken off the east coast of Tasmania near Maria Island have recently become available online. The publically available data includes signigicant wave height as well as air and water temperature.

RALPHS BAY HEARINGS SET TO BEGIN AS DEVELOPER PREPARES “DRAFT APPROVAL” FOR CANAL ESTATE PLAN

Just as public hearings on the controversial Walker Corporation Pty Ltd proposal to build a canal estate on the Ralphs Bay Conservation Area are set to begin, the proponent is writing its own "draft approval" for the project, according to information released on a Government website.

TASMANIA’S ICONIC GIANT KELP FORESTS NOMINATED AS THREATENED UNDER FEDERAL LAW

Humane Society International has nominated Tasmania’s giant underwater kelp forests (Macrocystus pyrifera) as a ‘Threatened Ecological Community’ under the federal Environment Protection & Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Environment Tasmania is supporting this nomination and progressing an equivalent listing in Tasmania.
