I would take this warning pretty seriously. A few years ago another algae bloom occurred and my father and i suffered from puffy eyes. mine weren’t so bad but my dad’s eyes closed over within minutes. We nicknamed him “PUFF DADDY” it was that bad. I have caught and eaten scallops near woody island this week and they have been fine. The experience has turned my dad of scallops forever.

The public has again been warned not to collect and eat wild shellfish from a number of waterways in the state’s south east, following an outbreak of a toxic algal bloom.
“People should not collect and eat wild shellfish from the Huon Estuary and Port Esperance,” Dr Taylor said.
