A colossal crowd of 14,500 headed to Marion Bay, Tasmania over the weekend to welcome in the New Year.  The largest ever Falls Festival, Marion Bay served up music and entertainment from around the globe to see out 2006.

It was another picture perfect Tasmanian Falls Festival with brilliant weather,  talented artists, and hordes of fanatical fans.

VirtualTasmania.com had a dedicated team at Marion Bay, covering the festival, and currently the VirtualTasmania bunker is awash in storage media filled with digital images.  Here is a small taster to start off your New Year.  Be sure to check back for more updates over the days to come - right now the team needs a short nap.

Wow, what fun did we have this year at the Falls!! Going along with little brother and big sis made it all a fun new experience for me yet again! The weather held out and the sun browned our little bodies, the patrons were friendly and having a ball, our camp site was in a fantastic close location again (YAY….other than the damn hill which we kept sliding down) and all performers seemed to enjoy themselves. One of my favourite Falls artists is always The Vasco Era….now those guys know how to expel and share their energy! The Sleepy Jackson was well worth looking forward to, and Dan Kelly and his boys made laying on the grass below the main stage a superb hangover cure… all be it a little eerie!

It was a little surprise to find the usually peace making JBT creating one of the most serious moshes for the weekend, with the mosh crowds being a little more tame than usual for this years festival. Michael Franti was a perfect entrance to the new year for us all…. with his happy vibe and the occasional preach, what a welcome for 2007! There was much talk about this years line up not being as good as past ones, and i even admit i was a little concerned when compared to some past falls acts. But seriously, this year was great, the line up was great and each year is always going to be different to the last. Heaps of fun, heaps of energy, heaps of happy faces…. and that’s what it’s all about!

Hope u all enjoyed too smile
