Australia’s finest summer music festival nestled along the beautiful coastlines of Lorne, Victoria and Marion Bay, Tasmania starring around 50 performers, comedians, The Village Arts Extravaganza, films, spectacular amphitheatres and two nights FREE camping.

Fabulous Friday: Featuring first rate films like Kenny, Rize, I Know I’m Not Alone, Dave Chapelle’s Block Party and more; The Village Arts Extravaganza; friends and festivities! It’s a great way to get in early, settle in to your campsite and kick start The Falls Festival vibe.

Tickets: Full Festival tickets are SOLD OUT. There will be NO FULL FESTIVAL TICKETS on the gate. Help prevent delays by having ALL TICKETS READY when you arrive at the venue and if you don’t have a ticket, do not turn up! Fabulous Friday tickets are on sale through Ticketek and through independent outlets in Tasmania for $20 + b/f or $30 at the gate but availability may be limited. You can’t get in with just a Fabulous Friday ticket - you must have a full festival ticket as well.

Location: The Festival is set on a picturesque farm over looking Marion Bay on Tasmania’s beautiful East coast. Marion Bay is roughly 45 minutes East of Hobart. Access to the event is ONLY via the Arthur Hwy and then onto Marion Bay Rd at Copping.  Roadblocks are in place in the local area. Gates: open 11am Friday 29th December and 9am 30th and 31st December. Gates close 10pm each night. The festival ends on the 1st Jan.

Parking / Passouts: The Falls Festival is a camping festival with cars and tents parked together and the majority of people stay onsite the whole time. There are NO vehicle passouts from the MAIN festival site. If you need to leave the festival to go home, work or stay in alternative accommodation, you MUST park in the offsite temporary car park near ticket check and NOT on the main festival site or you can use the bus system. By-laws officers will issue fines to patrons who park their vehicles outside the event site. You will need your wrist band on and undamaged to re-enter the festival site. 

Bus Services: An inbound / outbound bus service operates from Hobart, Rosny, the Hobart Airport and Sorell to the festival.  Bookings are essential – contact Belbins Bus Services: phone 03 6253 5252 / 0407 658 414 or email . Taking the bus or car pooling is a great way to reduce traffic and therefore speed up your arrival to the festival.

Driving: Drive safely and courteously to and from the festival; Plan your trip (including toilet stops at public toilets); Take a bag to keep your rubbish in until you find a bin; Don’t throw cigarette butts out of your car window; Expect delays; Respect other drivers on the road and the local residents whose community you are passing through; Don’t rush out on Jan 1st and visit the Road Safety Task Force team near the campground exit for a free breath test to make sure you are ok to drive.

The Attractions:
Line-Up: The Festival has around 50 artists including bands, DJs and comedians comfortably spread across 2 stages and two days plus The APRA People’s Stage hosting performances by punters basking in their 15 minutes of fame.

Cinema: A great selection of films will be screened on the 29th from 3.30pm including Kenny, Rize, I Know I’m Not Alone, Dave Chapelle’s Block Party and more. Enjoy Film in the Field from 10pm on 30th and 31st in the field stage arena and featuring fantastic Tasmanian productions as well as music videos from some of Tasmania’s finest bands.

The Village: Weaved through extravagant hand-made theatres, the Village houses high quality short performances across theatre, magic shows, puppetry, film, music, dancing and games. It’s an extraordinary occurrence of creativity, art, theatre, colour and fun. The Village opens its wonderland doors on Friday 29th Dec at 8pm running to 1am; on the 30th & 31st from 12noon to 6pm and then later from 1am - 4am. Yes, seriously folks, The Village really comes alive in the wee hours of the morning. You’ll also find yoga at 10am and tai chi at 11am on the 30th and 31st December.

Facilities:  Bring all your own camping gear (tent / camping equipment / torch / bedding). Toilets = plenty, showers = some (cold). Otherwise wander down to the beach to freshen up. Camp sites are not powered and can’t be reserved. There is a medical centre, TFS base, info tent, free event guide and a host of helpful people you can chat to if you need help. The Red Cross Save A Mate crew will be on deck too. There are no public phones on site.  Telstra have boosted their service to the festival so Telstra digital mobiles should work but remember, you might run out of batteries. Event and band merchandise is available in the main arena.  There is loads of stuff amongst the markets too.

Food & Water:  Running drinking water is freely available thanks to Hobart Water and you can buy drinks too.  A broad variety of great food stalls will be on site (including vegetarian, Mexican, curries, wood fired pizza, BBQ octopus, noodles, ice-cream and more). Bring extra supplies if you have special dietary requirements but remember the event site is a total fire ban and no glass.

Bar: The licensed bar will be open on the 29TH 3pm- 1.00am and on the 30th & 31st from 12 noon – 2am.  Beer and spirits are available in cans at very reasonable prices ($20 for 6 cans of full strength beer and $6 for a can of spirits). Cape Bernier wine is available in both arenas. No BYO – the festival will be refunding tickets and will refuse entry to or eject any person in a car or campground with BYO alcohol. The Falls Festival is all ages and ID is required if you wish to drink alcohol. 

Bring:  clothes for 4 seasons - it really can be hot, cold and freezing (especially at night). It may even rain at some point - forget the forecasts and bring it all! Bring warm coats, a change of shoes, a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses & your togs for a splash down at the beach. Bring Money. Bring your good vibes.

Rules:  The event is strictly a TOTAL FIRE BAN, NO BYO & NO GLASS.  Do not bring the following: BBQs, gas bottles, fireworks, alcohol, pets or glass.  Gas bottles will need to be checked in for safe storage if you are traveling and can’t leave it at home.

Environment: The Falls is held in a beautiful environment. Please take advantage of the re-cycling and general rubbish bags issued to you and leave them full beside your campsite for us to collect; be responsible with rubbish and cigarette butts at all times at the event and while you are driving on the roads. Keep an eye out for ways to be involved in our keepin’ it clean programs during the festival. Marion Bay is a sensitive environment and home to rare and endangered birds. Stay within fenced areas and respect signs and staff who are there to look after you and the environment, including at the beach. Always use the bins and toilets provided – don’t waste the environment.

Safety: Look out for yourself, your friends and your fellow festival goers during the festival at all times. Don’t leave others to look after themselves if they are in no state to do so, this is when they are most vulnerable to harm. Get help from event staff, security or the medical team if you need it. Look after your body in every respect including sun & hearing protection and remember that crowd surfing and moshing is dangerous.  If it is illegal offsite, it is illegal onsite. Uniformed and undercover police will be onsite throughout the event. If you do take something and get into any kind of trouble, ask for help as there are trained medics and other services onsite to help you. They aren’t there to judge you or get you in trouble - they’re just there to help.

Fire: The festival site is a total fire ban. Gas bottles should be left at home or checked in. Cigarette butts must be disposed of carefully. Follow instructions by our trained personnel at all times. 

Emergency: In case of any emergency including fire, listen out for official announcements and take direction from event staff and emergency service personnel like police, fire authorities, medics or security. You may be instructed to assemble in the main arena. Do not attempt to leave the site by car unless directed to do so.
