Smackfest Press Release 26/05/04

Smackfest 2004- A cultural event embodying the spirit of wavesailing. Smack lips and party at the Edge of the world… Marrawah, Tasmania - Australia.

13th - 20th November 2004
After successfully testing the new style wave event in 2003, we are now planning what we believe to be the worlds’ ultimate wavesailing competition. Smackfest 2004 will be a definitive tribal gathering which will produce the most radical wavesailing footage ever seen, whilst allowing the wavesailing community to get together, learn new skills and push their own limits (plus party to sick live music of course).

We are currently holding discussions with potential windsurfing industry sponsors as well as stregthening our ties with Events Tasmania.
Entry is open to anybody competent in the waves, so if you are thinking of coming to Australia, make sure your trip itinerary includes Smackfest! The event will be filmed and produced (by TIDEGUIDE.org/Pixelworks) into a 25 minute show to be distributed via the Foxtel pay TV network globally as well as a DVD.

Smackfest is a rare opportunity to compete against some of the worlds’ best wavesailors in going off wave conditions. It could be just the platform to launch your pro career - or just improve your wavesailing skills in a fun environment!

In the coming month, travel details on the event site will be updated as well as other competitor information and entry forms. In the interim, please drop me an email if you would like some further info…

The production will be in conjunction with Tideguide which will mean a dynamic web coverage and also a ‘web winner’ being voted by the world on >> http://www.tideguide.org.

For information on competing or spectating at Smackfest, check the site http://www.smackfest.net for details.
